And, when we talk of higher interest rates, Senior Citizens Fixed Deposit (FD) Schemes are one of the best options most of the money experts suggest for investment under fixed tenure. Here we compare three different banks – HDFC Bank vs ICICI Bank vs Bank of Baroda – in terms of interest rates on Senior Citizens FD Schemes:-
‘HDFC Senior Citizen Care’: 6.25 per cent
-Enjoy 0.75%* extra interest rate with Senior Citizen Care FD offer.
-This offer is for resident senior citizens aged 60 years and above, (not applicable to NRI) who wish to book a Fixed Deposit less than 5 crores for a tenure of 5 years one day to 10 years.
-Offer valid for all new/renewal of Senior Citizens FD < 5 Cr
-Offer duration: Senior Citizen Care FD is valid from 18th May’20 to 31st Dec’20.
‘ICICI Bank Golden Years’: 6.30 per cent
-Resident senior citizen customers, will get an additional interest rate of 0.30% for limited time over and above existing additional rate of 0.50% per annum
-The additional rate will be available on fresh deposits opened as well as deposits renewed during the scheme period
-Eligible FD tenure: 5 years 1 day up to 10 years
-Applicable duration: May 20, 2020 to December 31, 2020
-Applicable on single FD of amount less than Rs 2 crore
-Premature withdrawal: In case deposit opened in above scheme is prematurely withdrawn/closed after, on or after 5 years 1 day, the applicable penal rate will be 1.30%. In case the deposit opened in above scheme is prematurely withdrawn/closed before 5 years 1 day, the prevailing premature withdrawal policy will be applicable
-All other features of term deposit as well as terms and conditions shall remain unchanged and are applicable for the above scheme also.
Bank of Baroda Special FD Scheme: 6.25 percent
-In the current challenging situation brought by COVID-19, Bank has agreed to continue to pay additional rate to Resident Senior Citizen for less than RS.2.00 Crores as under:
-0.50% for all tenors up to 5 years
-1.00% for “Above 5 years to up to 10 years” tenor and valid till 31.12.2020.
